Freedom

In the "spirit" of the 4th of July (although I am not personally in the "spirit" of things), I want to share with you some great truisms by L. Ron Hubbard on the subject of freedom. The great thing about this article is that it is true and applies no matter what day it is or who or where you are.

This is from an article called "Honest People Have Rights, Too":

"After you have achieved a high level of ability you will be the first to insist upon your rights to live with honest people.

When you know the technology of the mind, you know that it is a mistake to use 'individual rights' and 'freedom' as arguments to protect those who would only destroy.

Individual rights were not originated to protect criminals, but to bring freedom to honest men. Into this area of protection then dived those who needed 'freedom' and 'individual liberty' to cover their own questionable activities.

Freedom is for honest people. No man who is not himself honest can be free -- he is his own trap. When his own deeds cannot be disclosed then he is a prisoner; he must withhold himself from his fellows and is a slave to his own conscience. Freedom must be deserved before any freedom is possible.

To protect dishonest people is to condemn them to their own hells. By making 'individual rights' a synonym for 'protect the criminal' one helps bring about a slave state for all; for where 'individual liberty' is abused, an impatience with it arises which at length sweeps us all away. The targets of all disciplinary laws are the few who err. Such laws unfortunately also injure and restrict those who do not err. If all were honest, there would be no diciplinary threats.

There is only one way out for a dishonest person -- facing up to his own responsibilities in the society and putting himself back into communication with his fellow man, his family, the world at large. By seeking to invoke his 'individual rights' to protect himself from an examination of his deeds, he reduces just that much the future of individual liberty -- for he himself is not free. Yet he infects others who are honest by using their right to freedom to protect himself.

Uneasy lies the head that wears a guilty conscience. And it will lie no more easily by seeking to protect misdeeds by pleas of 'freedom means that you must never look at me.' The right of a person to survive is directly related to his honesty.

Freedom for Man does not mean freedom to injure Man. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom to harm by lies.

Man cannot be free while there are those amongst him who are slaves to their own terrors.

The mission of a techno-space society is to subordinate the individual and control him by economic and political duress. The only casulty in a machine age is the indvidual and his freedom.

To preserve that freedom, one must not permit men to hid their evil intentinos under the protection of that freedom. To be free, a man must be honest with himself and with his fellows. If a man uses his own honesty to protest the unmasking of dishonesty, then that man is an enemy of his own freedom.

We can stand in the sun only so long as we do not let the deeds of others bring the darkness.

Freedom is for honest men. Individual liberty exists only for those who have the ability to be free.

Today, in Scientology, we know the jailer -- the person himself. And we can restore the right to stand in the sun by eradicating the evil men do to themselves.

Who would punish when he could salvage? Only a madman would break a wanted object when he could repair it -- and we are not mad.

The individual must not die in this machine age -- rights or no rights. The criminal and madman must not triumph with their newfound tools of destruction.

The least free person is the person who cannot reveal his own acts and who protests the revelation of the improper acts of others. On such people will be built a future political slavery where we all have numbers -- and our guilt -- unless we act.

It is fascinating that blackmail and punishment are the keynotes of all dark operations. What would happen if these two commodities no longer existed? What would happen if all men were free enough to speak? Then and only then would you have freedom.

On the day when we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth." - LRH

Great, huh?

How can you apply this in your own life and in the lives of others around you? Take a look......

Power Of Choice Poem

I read this poem today. It really touched me and I think it communicates a great message:

“When you make a decision that changes your fate
The effects of viewpoint go a world round.
For a simple decision to change one's mind
Is the most powerful ability of all time.

And when we change and look anew
We see our tree expanding through
We look about and perceive a truth
That there is not destiny
But only our stance in which WE choose.

God used to take our shame
God used to shun our responsibilities of the transgressions we do
No responsibility for the actions we take
Because it's his fault I did things that way

Then why do we have a conscience
And why do we have intellect,
To show us right from wrong
Why have any of these traits if we have to close our eyes
And walk blindly his way
Why do we feel there WAS
Why do we feel there IS something we can do to change it

I say "Thank you Source" for these traits
They allow me to live a life that I know I create
I say "Thank you Friend" for you gave thought
They allow me create my own new wonders and joy
I say "Thank you my Equal" for you gave me my power of choice
They allow me to be different in my own way

Even no God, but animal we think
Justified by our "instincts"
Live once so it doesn't matter
And unhappiness ensues

And down we go

As happiness is final product of something created for good
Helping ones man achieve what he sought for so long
Service not due but volunteered
So back again how do we decide?
We change our minds

And for those of you who disagree
Just do me one thing;
That thing you did that you regret
Could changing your mind have prevented it?”

NFL Player Arrested For Illegal Possession of Presciption Drugs!

I just read in a news article from the Boston Globe that one of the New England Patriots’ offensive linemen, Nicholas Kaczur, was recently arrested due to illegal possession of painkillers (prescription drugs).
This NFL player had been purchasing ONE HUNDRED OxyContin pills every few days since November of last year!! And he had to spend tens of thousands of dollars to purchase these pills. Tens of thousands of dollars?!?!

For those of you who don’t know, OxyContin is a powerful narcotic painkiller. (This drug produces a euphoria similar to that of heroin!) It is highly addictive and can also be very dangerous. There are numerous cases of people dying from this drug, either from just taking one pill or from taking way too many.

One good thing in this story was after Nicholas Kaczur was arrested, he helped the DEA catch his drug supplier who has also now been arrested. (And no, this was not a doctor, but a prescription drug dealer selling these pills in a supermarket parking lot.)

This is yet another sign of the prescription drug epidemic occuring across the nation. More and more people are turning to prescription drugs instead of street drugs. Our society is becoming more and more of a drugged society. The only way that we can change this and bring our society back up to a more successful and productive level is by people like you and me speaking out about it and making our voices be heard. Because up at the top of the drug chain, ie., Big Pharma and the FDA, they support the drug industry as it fills their back pockets. But if they do this at the expense of people’s lives, what sort of a person would be able to live with themselves at night???

Please speak out about harmful drugs, legal or illegal. Our future is at stake.
